Andhra Pradesh is reeling under an intense heatwave as daytime temperatures continue to soar, with multiple districts witnessing extreme heat conditions. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), temperatures have risen significantly across the state, with several areas recording temperatures four degrees above normal levels for this time of the year.
IMD data indicates that over 150 mandals in Andhra Pradesh have registered temperatures exceeding 40°C. Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions are particularly affected, experiencing average temperatures of around 40°C, making daily life increasingly challenging for residents.
Among the worst-hit areas, Komarolu, Nandyal, and Kamalapuram recorded the highest temperature at 42.5°C. Other regions, including S. Kota, Anakapalli, and Rudravaram in Annamayya district, registered temperatures of 42°C. Additionally, areas such as Kosigi, Miliaputtu, Tadimarri, Sabbavaram, and Veeraghattam reported temperatures hovering around 41°C. Several major towns and cities, including Guntakal, Gopalapuram, Tirupati, Nellore, Chittoor, Machilipatnam, Narasaraopet, and Eluru, also experienced intense heat, with temperatures touching 40°C.
Meteorologists have warned that the prevailing heatwave conditions could persist in the coming days, urging residents to take necessary precautions. The IMD has advised people to stay hydrated, avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours, and take preventive measures to safeguard against heat-related illnesses. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and may issue further advisories if temperatures continue to rise. With summer setting in early and the mercury climbing rapidly, experts suggest that the state could be in for an exceptionally hot season ahead.
