The Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) has given its approval for 59 tenders related to Amaravati’s development, amounting to Rs.37,702.15 crore, according to State Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister Ponguru Narayana. These tenders will be placed before the Cabinet on March 17 for final approval, after which work is expected to commence immediately.

20,000 workers will be engaged in Amaravati’s development projects over the next month. The 45th CRDA meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, took several key decisions aimed at expediting the capital’s infrastructure development.

Previously, the CRDA and the Cabinet had approved 73 projects worth Rs.48,012 crore. Of these, tenders for 59 projects worth Rs.37,702.15 crore were opened on Monday and approved by the CRDA today. The Letter of Intent will be issued soon to facilitate the commencement of work.

Among these projects, 22 projects belong to CRDA, valued at Rs.22,607.11 crore, 37 projects are under the Amaravati Development Corporation (ADC), costing Rs.15,095.04 crore. While 24 projects were initially planned under CRDA, tenders for only 22 projects have been opened so far. The remaining two tenders are scheduled to be opened on March 17.

Additionally, the government plans to invite tenders worth Rs.16,871.52 crore by the end of this month for NTR Statue construction, an iconic bridge in Amaravati, new roads connecting the National Highway and construction of Karakatta Road. Amaravati Capital City project is estimated to cost Rs.64,000 crore, but no funds will be sourced from state tax revenues, in line with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s commitment.

The CRDA currently holds 6,203 acres of land, of which 1,900 acres will be allocated to institutions. The remaining 4,000 acres will be developed or auctioned to generate revenue for the capital’s construction. The financial plan includes, Rs.15,000 crore loan from the World Bank, Rs. 11,000 crore loan from HUDCO and Rs.5,000 crore loan from various banks.

In total, the government has secured Rs. 31,000 crore to kickstart development. Additionally, the state budget has allocated Rs. 6,000 crore for Amaravati’s infrastructure projects. The Amaravati capital region spans 53,500 acres, with 30% of the land designated for green and blue development zones to promote sustainable urban growth.
