As the Congress government gears up to implement Rythu Bharosa, the farmers' investment support scheme, by revisiting the earlier beneficiaries list from the Rythu Bandhu scheme of the previous BRS regime, owners of non-cultivable lands including the real estate venture plots and ones having hillocks, rocks and roads would face an exit.

By modifying the beneficiary list of the previous regime's Rythu Bandhu scheme and leveraging MNREGS job card data, the government is addressing inefficiencies and extending financial aid to those in genuine need.

The Agriculture Department has been on list scrutiny job for the last five months and identified non-cultivable lands in villages. Most of the lands where real estate ventures were made with plot markings were located on the outskirts of villages in various districts.

To make the most of the booming reality market, land owners in villages opted for ventures without altering the status in revenue records and availing the Rythu Bandhu benefit year after year.

Apart from this, some lands in villages where a part of it was non-cultivable (due to the presence of hillocks or passing of roads in between) and the farming was confined to other parts, the land owner was extended investment support assistance for the entire bit. The agriculture department is also revising these details.

Although no data has been released yet on the revised beneficiary figures, stakeholders hint at the removal of ten per cent number from the existing data of over 1.4 lakh crore cultivable land data that was extended the scheme by the earlier regime benefitting approx 60 lakh farmers. Nearly 20 lakh acres are expected to be excluded, bringing transparency to the allocation process.

Agriculture Labour list with the help of MNREGS data

It may be mentioned here that the Congress government has decided to extend Rs 12,000 assistance to landless agriculture labourers in the state. As such the agriculture department took the job card data of the MNREGS (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme) in Telangana.
