In a major step towards strengthening healthcare in Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced that the government will ensure multi-speciality hospitals in every constituency across the state.
He said that out of the 175 constituencies, 70 already have such hospitals in place, and the remaining 105 constituencies will get 100-300 bedded multi-speciality hospitals under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. The government will provide viability gap funding, along with subsidies and land for construction, to make this a reality.
The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of good health through preventive care, calling for lifestyle changes like walking, exercising, practicing yoga and meditation. Speaking at the Secretariat on Monday while presenting district-wise health reports, he stressed that avoiding tobacco, drugs, and alcohol is crucial to prevent diseases like cancer, liver, and kidney ailments.
Healthy Living Starts at Home
CM Naidu urged people to be mindful of their dietary habits. “If a family of four restricts salt intake to 600 grams, oil to 2 litres, and sugar to 3 kilograms per month, they can maintain good health,” he advised.
Health Records to Go Digital
CM Naidu announced that Andhra Pradesh has issued Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts to nearly 88% of its population, placing the state among the frontrunners in digital health. A pilot 'Digital Nerve Centre' is being established in Kuppam to integrate digital health records with real-time alerts for disease prevention. Health data will be stored in DigiLocker, and both online and offline medical consultations will be available.
Mega Medicity Coming Up in Amaravati
A global mega medicity will be developed in Amaravati under the PPP model, the Chief Minister said. Of the 200 acres allocated, 100 acres will be dedicated to healthcare services, 40 acres each to allied services and residential quarters, and 20 acres for commercial use. The health department will work jointly with CRDA to bring this medicity to life, marking another major leap toward a healthier and happier Andhra Pradesh.
