In a surprise move, Andhra Pradesh Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar conducted an unannounced inspection at the Civil Supplies Department store located in the Andhra Pradesh Bhavan in New Delhi. The minister was accompanied by Civil Supplies Department Secretary Saurabh Gaur and AP Bhavan Resident Commissioner Lav Agarwal.

During the inspection, Minister Manohar examined the quality of rice being sold at the store and found significant discrepancies in both weight and quality. A rice bag labeled as 26 kilograms was found to weigh only 25 kilograms, prompting the minister to express serious displeasure over the mismanagement by the staff.

Adding to the concerns, the weighing machine at the store was found to be malfunctioning, further raising questions about the transparency and accuracy of the store’s operations. The minister also noted a higher percentage of broken grains in the rice being sold, indicating substandard quality being offered under the department’s name. “It is unacceptable to find such lapses under the banner of the Civil Supplies Department,” said Minister Nandendla Manohar.

“The rice lacks quality, the packaging is misleading, and the weighing systems are faulty. This reflects poorly on our governance and undermines public trust.” In response to these findings, Minister Manohar immediately ordered the seizure of the store, which was reportedly being operated by private individuals under the guise of the Civil Supplies Department. He directed officials to take stringent action against those responsible for the irregularities.

Taking swift corrective measures, the minister announced that a government-run ration store will be set up in the AP Bhavan within a month, operated directly under the supervision of the Andhra Pradesh Civil Supplies Department. He assured that the new store would provide high-quality rice and essential commodities at fair prices.
