Andhra Pradesh Minister for Women and Child Welfare and Tribal Welfare, Gummadi Sandhya Rani, announced on Tuesday that the current coalition government has undertaken extensive development works worth Rs.1,300 crore in tribal areas since assuming office.
Speaking to the media at the State Secretariat, the Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to the welfare and progress of tribal communities, detailing a range of infrastructure and social development initiatives.
In regard to road connectivity in remote tribal regions, especially to eliminate doli (manual) transport systems in inaccessible tribal hamlets, the government has launched a Rs.1,000 crore road development project to improve connectivity in remote areas. Also, drinking water facilities are being provided in 1,600 tribal villages, and an additional Rs. 156 crore is being spent to improve basic infrastructure across these regions. Moreover, Rs. 53 crore has been allocated to install drinking water facilities in 1,100 Anganwadi centers.
The Minister revealed that six mobile tribal markets (Giri Bazaars) will be set up in six ITDA regions, each with an investment of Rs.1 crore. Additionally, container hospitals equipped with 65 types of essential medicines will be introduced in every tribal assembly constituency, ensuring healthcare access in interior areas lacking permanent hospital infrastructure.
