Minister for Agriculture Tummala Nageswara Rao has directed officials to ensure that Telangana State remains a leader in oil palm cultivation across the nation. During a review meeting with officials at the Secretariat on Wednesday, the Minister emphasized the importance of adhering to the cultivation targets established by the government. He noted that this year, oil palm cultivation has been initiated on an area of 16,729 acres, and called for proactive measures to meet the established goals by March.

The Minister highlighted the rise in prices of oil palm saplings and urged the implementation of awareness programs to motivate farmers to engage in oil palm cultivation. Officials have been tasked with completing the Narmetta Oil Palm Processing Unit in Siddipet district by June 1, and to commence the processing of oil palm.

Similarly, officials have been instructed to initiate tenders for the construction of processing facilities at the Beechpally and Kallur warehouses, with work to be started immediately. This initiative is expected to benefit farmers in the new districts where oil palm cultivation is being implemented and will provide opportunities for new farmers to engage in this industry.

The Minister has also directed the officials of the Cooperative Electricity Supply Association Limited, Sircilla (CESS), to ensure a reliable and uninterrupted power supply for farmers and the power loom industry. Tummala Nageswara Rao directed the officials to keep transformers available and change them as soon as a problem arises to ensure there is no interruption in the power supply.
