The GHMC standing committee election turned unanimous once again today. Two BRS party corporators withdrew their nominations paving the way for the unanimous elections of the candidates, who filed their nomination papers.
The BRS party withdrew from the contest due to lack of numbers. As many as 17 nominations have been filed for the post of the standing committee member, including eight nominations from the MIM party, seven from the Congress and two from the BRS party. The 15-member standing committee was unanimously elected due to the withdrawal of the BRS party candidates. Of the 15 standing committee members, eight will be from the MIM party and seven from the Congress party. For the first time in the last 10 years, the Congress corporators will be on the standing committee.
