In a blistering critique of the previous administration, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has accused the YSRCP government of grossly misleading thousands of youth in the name of volunteer jobs, calling the program a “deliberate deception” with no legal or official backing.

Speaking at a Rachabanda public interaction program in Kuridi village, part of his two-day tour of the agency areas in Alluri Sitarama Raju district, Pawan Kalyan launched a bold and uncompromising attack on the alleged irregularities committed under the previous regime.

“There were no official GOs, no legal appointments, and no clarity on payments. Yet, youth were promised government jobs and pushed into a system that existed only on paper and propaganda,” said the Deputy CM, adding that the Cabinet had already deliberated multiple times on the issue. “Where the money came from, and how it was distributed, there’s no trace,” he said. “It’s a classic case of using hope as a weapon to manipulate the youth.”

Slamming the YSRCP for its “clever branding,” Pawan Kalyan criticized the use of the word “volunteer” to mask unpaid or underpaid labour as a noble service. He accused the former administration of creating an illusion of employment while robbing thousands of young people of real opportunity, dignity, and future security.

He urged volunteers across the state to question how and why their salaries were paid without proper records and called on youth leaders to demand accountability. He also said that the previous regime failed to lay even 100 kilometers of roads in the region over five years. “In contrast, our government has already spent Rs.400 crore, and an additional Rs.600 crore will soon be invested in road construction.

He proposed Kuridi as a pilot project for collective farming. He announced Rs.5 lakh from his personal funds for village development and promised to send agricultural officials to assist locals with modern techniques. Highlighting the untapped tourism potential of agency regions, Pawan Kalyan advocated for cultural tourism modeled on Kerala’s success, where local deities, traditions, and festivals attract even international tourists.
