Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu emphasized the need for balanced demographic growth and long-term economic development during his visit to Muppalla in Nandigama constituency of the erstwhile Krishna district. Participating in a public gathering commemorating the birth anniversary of Babu Jagjivan Ram, the Chief Minister delivered a detailed address highlighting his vision for the state's future, the importance of a productive population, and the critical role of poverty alleviation programs like the P4 initiative.
Reflecting on the shift in socio-economic conditions, CM Chandrababu stated that while family planning was once a national priority, current circumstances demand a reevaluation. “India now faces the challenge of an aging population, similar to what developed countries are experiencing. If population growth slows excessively, it will affect national productivity,” he noted.
He stressed that increasing the working-age population is essential for sustaining economic momentum. “By 2047, we aim to see India as a global leader. We're now initiating second-generation reforms to realize that goal,” the CM declared with confidence.
Chandrababu did not mince words in criticizing the previous state administration, accusing it of pushing Andhra Pradesh into financial distress by accruing debts of over Rs.10 lakh crore. “An irresponsible leader leads to destruction, but a visionary one can transform society,” he asserted.
Highlighting his role in promoting the IT sector during his earlier tenure, he proudly remarked, “Today, Telugus are making a mark across the globe. Our children are like hidden gems. With proper education, they can rule the world.”
Discussing the flagship P4 (People's Participation for Poverty-free Prosperity) program, the CM explained that it was crafted to uplift the bottom 25% of society. “We are focusing on wealth creation and equitable distribution. Through P4, we are building a golden society with the help of community mentors and golden families,” he said.
He praised the coalition government’s commitment to inclusive growth, inspired by leaders like Jagjivan Ram. “New ideas and efforts are constantly being made for the state's development. Everyone today considers a mobile phone essential — the same way, we must ensure economic tools are accessible to all,” he said.
As part of his itinerary, CM Chandrababu visited the Girls Welfare Hostel and Gurukula School in Muppalla. He interacted with the students, reviewed dormitories, examined kitchen and dining facilities, and personally assessed the quality of food, including eggs, rice, and vegetables. The CM inquired if the meals were being served as per the prescribed menu and whether they were both nutritious and tasty.
Naidu urged wealthy citizens to give back to society and emphasized that leaders must think decades ahead. “There should be no person born in poverty in this country. We must eradicate poverty and increase per capita income,” he said.
He noted that while economic inequality is rising globally, India’s response must be unique. “Everyone is born equal. Recognition doesn’t come from wealth, but from good deeds. That’s what P4 stands for,” he explained. He reiterated the need for SC categorization and emphasized the development of village infrastructure, including roads and sanitation.
CM Naidu concluded his address by reiterating the core philosophy of his governance. “I believe in studying society continuously and planning for 20-30 years into the future. Leadership requires foresight. If a leader focuses on destruction, the state suffers. But if he focuses on progress, the entire state thrives,” he said.
He promised to honor community mentors who work effectively under the P4 initiative and emphasized that serving society is the responsibility of the privileged. “The P4 initiative is historic. No other country has attempted something like this. Through this, we aim to bridge inequalities and build a better future for all,” he affirmed.
