CDS to organize a conference on ’75 Years of Indian Constitution

The Centre for Dalit Studies (CDS), in collaboration with Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung-South Asia and several other organizations, is set to organize a conference on ‘75 Years of Indian Constitution: Assessing the Achievement in Socio-economic Justice’ on January 26 (Sunday) at 10am at the CDS building in Motinagar, Hyderabad.

The conference will bring together renowned scholars, policy makers and activists to evaluate the impact of the Indian Constitution over the past seven decades in advancing socio-economic justice. Key speakers at the event include Justice B Sudershan Reddy, former Judge of the Supreme Court, Prof Sukhadeo Thorat, former Chairman of UGC and ICSSR, Prof Hargopal, a political scientist and pioneer of the civil rights movement, Dr K Raju, retired IAS officer, Prof Kodandaram, MLC, Telangana Legislative Council and Prof Shanta Sinha, founder of the MV Foundation.

Other distinguished speakers include Dr Raja Sekhar Vundru, Additional Chief Secretary of Haryana, Dr Ramachandra Murthy, Senior Editor, Prof R Limbardi, former Chairperson of the Telangana Council for Higher Education, Advocate Rajani Soren, Senior lawyer, Dr Pagidipati Devaiah, educationist and Prof Tanweer Fazal from the University of Hyderabad.

The seminar will feature three thought provoking sessions. The first session, Indian Constitution and Socio-economic Justice, chaired by Dr Ramachandra Murthy, will include speakers like Dr Raja Sekhar Vundru and Prof Hargopal. The second session, Indian Constitution and Rights of Women and Adivasis, chaired by Prof Hargopal, will feature discussions led by Prof Shanta Sinha and advocate Rajani Soren. The third session, Political Representation of Marginalized Groups and Minorities, will be chaired by M Laxmaiah, with Prof R Limbadri and Prof Tanweer Fazal as key speakers.
