Andhra Pradesh Transport and Youth Affairs Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy met Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi on Wednesday to discuss several crucial infrastructure projects aimed at improving road connectivity and safety in the state. The meeting, which lasted approximately 45 minutes, focused on various proposals requiring central assistance.

As part of the state’s efforts to enhance road safety, Minister Ramprasad Reddy emphasized the urgent need for a 4-kilometer tunnel on the Kadapa-Rayachoti route. He informed the Union Minister that a comprehensive feasibility report had already been prepared by the central transport team.

The project, which envisions a four-lane tunnel, is awaiting forest department clearance. The Minister requested a swift green signal from the central government to expedite the construction.

Highlighting the importance of road expansion for better connectivity, Minister Reddy sought financial support through the Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) to improve road links between villages, mandal headquarters, and district hubs, particularly in the Rayachoti area.

The Minister also advocated for the upgradation of the Rajampeta-Rayachoti-Kadiri state highway to a national highway, citing its potential to boost regional connectivity and economic development. He urged the Union Minister to take the necessary steps for its approval and implementation.

Another key request included the approval of projects under the National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHLML) initiative, which would ensure faster execution of infrastructure works in the region.

In response, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari assured full cooperation from the central government in advancing Andhra Pradesh’s transport infrastructure. He reiterated the government’s commitment to enhancing road safety and connectivity in the state.
