Andhra Government to establish model schools in every assembly constituency

Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Nara Lokesh has directed officials to take immediate steps to establish one model school in every Assembly constituency. These schools will adhere to the highest educational standards in the country, ensuring quality learning opportunities for students. This initiative is part of the broader AP Model of Education, aimed at transforming the state’s education system.

During a high-level review meeting, Minister Lokesh discussed the Learning Excellence in Andhra Pradesh (LEAP) program with senior officials from the School Education, Intermediate Education, and Higher Education departments. He stressed the importance of detailed planning and effective implementation to achieve the program’s objectives. As part of the education reforms, the minister announced that a workshop will be conducted on March 3 with legislators to discuss alternative arrangements for GO 117.

He also directed officials to organize a meeting with university vice-chancellors, chaired by the Governor, to deliberate on higher education reforms, strategies for improving NIRF rankings, and academic development initiatives. The minister also emphasized the need to restore the PG fee reimbursement scheme, which would benefit thousands of students pursuing higher education. Additionally, he instructed authorities to accelerate the construction of AI University and Sports University in Amaravati, ensuring their timely completion.

The meeting was attended by key officials, including School Education Secretary Kona Sasidhar, Director Vijayaramaraju, Intermediate Education Director Kritika Shukla, Samagra Shiksha Project Director B. Srinivasa Rao, Higher Education Council Chairman K. Madhumurthy, College Education Director Narayana Bharat Gupta, and Skill Development Corporation MD Ganesh Kumar.

Experts from KPMG, including Narayanan Ramaswamy, Soumya Velayudham, and V. Madhavan, also participated, offering insights into education reforms and strategic planning.
